- Lindane Symptom Summaries from Government Agencies
NIH, WHO, ICSC, EPA, UNEP - Seizures
Acute WHO Class II – ‘moderately hazardous'(1). Exposure to small amounts by skin contamination or ingestion have been known to lead to headaches, nausea, dizziness, tremors and muscular weakness.
Chronic IARC has concluded that lindane is a possible human carcinogen (class 2B)(2). The UK ACP disagrees (3). Lindane has been linked with blood disorders known as blood dyscrasias, and in particular the disorder aplastic anaemia where the formation of platelets and white cells is disrupted. The UK ACP has concluded that there is no conclusive link, but that in certain cases the development of the disease may be an idiosyncratic response to exposure to lindane (3). Lindane is an endocrine disruptor, and has been associated with breast cancer (4).
